  Worship is Our "Front Door"

At First United Methodist Church of Kearney we understand that the first connection many people make with our church is by attending worship.  We offer three distinct worship experiences each Sunday to reach more people for Christ.  In all three services, the atmosphere is warm and casual, the music is deep and rich, God's word is central, and Christ is our focus.

  • Our Early Worship experience begins at 8:15 AM.  We sing hymns, pray together, and listen for God's voice speaking to us through the scriptures and sermon.  Special music is provided by the Sunrise Singers, a women's ensemble.
  • Our 9:30 AM worship experience is a contemporary Praise Service.  Congregational worship and singing is led by our Praise Team and we often use culturally relevant media images to illustrate the truth of God's Word.  There is a relaxed format and you'll find that the preaching is both relevant to your daily life and faithful to God's Word.
  • Our Classic Worship service begins at 10:45 AM and draws on more traditional elements to present a unified message of God's love and grace made known in Jesus Christ.  Expect to sing some favorite hymns, enjoy our Chancel Choir, encounter the Word, and deepen your faith.
As you enter any of our worship experiences you'll probably be offered several warm handshakes and be greeted by smiling faces as you enter the building and make your way into our Worship Center.

What to Wear, What to Wear?
Though you'll occasionally see a dress or tie on Sunday morning, you'll also see T-shirts and jeans and everything in between.  Your presence is more important to us than your appearance, and we consider your presence a gift to us.  And we also want you to know that, at our church, "come as you are" refers to much more than just your clothing.  We believe that God sees all of us just as we are and loves us anyway!

Is The Communion Table Open To Me?
Christ's Table is open to all who hunger to be fed spiritually.  We recognize that each of us come to the Lord from different places in our journey with Christ, and we welcome you as Christ welcomes all, openly into God's presence.  We generally celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month with bread and juice, and you will be warmly invited to share in this special time with us.

Are Children Welcomed In Worship?

We affirm that children are important members of our worshiping community and should feel that they belong to the household of faith.

Is There Nursery Care Available?
We enjoy having children of all ages with us in worship, but for those moments when the "little" ones need a place where they can be cared for during Sunday School or Worship time, our Nursery Center is staffed with loving, qualified caregivers.

We Hope You'll Join Us

We extend the warmest possible invitation for you to join us for worship.  We're certain that you'll experience the love of God, the presence of Jesus Christ and the joy of the Holy Spirit in our midst.
